Interesting... I only have the early dolls (all mine are tagged 86) but I have seen a few from 93-96 and noticed they were not so rosy. My Kirsten and Felicity were rosy, but they were very well-loved throughout my childhood, so their face paint faded over time. I was scared to paint them, so I just got out a few colors of blush and used a tiny brush for the lips and my fingers for the cheeks. They are now rosy again, and if I want to change their coloring I need only wipe off their face!
Overall, I really love the German face molds, but I've seen the newer dolls at friends' houses and I must say I love their silky thick hair and colorful faces. My German Kirsten's hair was thin from the beginning and now it's very thin after almost twenty years. If only we could convince them to use the German face molds and vinyl with the new wigs and paint... yeah, right- keep dreaming!
I saw Marisol last night and she is lovely. If she's still around when my house sells, she may need to join me to be Josefina's sister. Loved her hair and coloring.
